Da quando è stata annunciata, lo scorso 27 gennaio, NGP è sulla bocca di tutti. Ci si chiede quando uscirà in Europa, quale sarà il prezzo, quali saranno i titoli disponibili al lancio, quando potremo sapere e vedere altro riguardo il nuovo hardware portatile. A quest'ultima domanda potremmo avere una risposta. E' ufficiale infatti che Sony terrà una conferenza chiamata "Next Generation Portable Platform" presentata da David Coombes interamente dedicata ad NGP al prossimo atteso evento GDC 2011 che si terrà dal 28 febbraio al 4 marzo a San Francisco. La presentazione della conferenza recita: "In this presentation we will introduce a new handheld console. We will talk about the devices broad range of input and connectivity options and how these create exciting new opportunities for game designers. David Coombes has worked at Sony Computer Entertainment since 1995. He started as a developer support engineer in London. After a stint in first party development he returned to developer support in Foster City to work on the PS2. Since then he has worked on launching the PSP and PS3 platforms. Currently he splits his time between making training materials and researching future technology.” L'evento della GDC è tra i maggiori appuntamenti dell'industria nel corso di ogni anno, importante quasi quanto il mitico E3 di Los Angeles che si tiene in giugno. Ricordiamo che all'evento di quest'anno oltre alla conferenza Sony sono attesi anche Satoru Iwata presidente di Nintendo che terrà la conferenza di apertura e Rod Fergusson di Epic Games che terrà una conferenza incentrata sulla serie Gears Of War.
